Introducing the beautiful wedding of Laura & Dan!
1. Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
Living on Long Island, there are a lot of catering halls. We didn't want that. We wanted something rustic, beautiful and unique. Durham Hill Farm was exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful venue with a large beautiful property.
2. Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
Durham Hill Farm is so beautiful on its own, we didn't feel the need to go crazy with decor. We kept it simply with eucalyptus runners on the long farmhouse tables with hints of dusty pink and light blue tones. Durham Hill Farm actually has a "prop room" full of decor that you can use. We loved this! We used their chalkboards, wooden crates and some signs that they had.
3. What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
We incorporated florals into our ceremony arch, bouquets and table runners. Florals consisted of mainly green eucalyptus with hints of white, dusty pink and light blue. They added the perfect touch to the already beautiful venue.
4. Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
We had a few unique things at our wedding. Since the wedding was in Pennsylvania and most of our guests were driving in from NJ and NY, we had a "pre-ceremony cocktail hour" in addition to the regular cocktail hour. This allowed our guests to have a drink and get something to eat after driving in that day. We also had donkeys in the cocktail hour space that our guests could interact with. During cocktail hour and the reception we had games such as cornhole and giant jenga outside for our guests to play. Once it got dark, we lit up a bunch of firepits outside and had a smores bar. These were all packages that the venue offered that we are so glad we incorporated into our day. Our caterer made the most amazing bacon bar for cocktail hour that was gobbled up by our guests so quickly! Our caterer also put together a great ice cream bar for dessert that our guests loved!
5. Let's talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
Our style was "country chic". My dress was Burke by Maggie Sottero. Boho/country style dress with petal-shaped hemline and that same petal-shaped lace throughout. I wore white sandals for the ceremony and switched to cowboy boots for the reception. Bridesmaids were in a full length dusty blue dresses. Groom and grooms men wore khakis, white button down shirt and suspenders with dusty blue tie. Guests were encouraged to dress as "country chic" as they would like and they did not disappoint!
6. How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
We are a "Tinder Love Story". We met online in the middle of the covid pandemic. By the end of our first date, we made plans to see each the next day and then the next day and everyday since :)He proposed on our one year anniversary at the same spot where we had our first kiss.
7. What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
The entire day was so incredibly special. I was so excited to marry my best friend and man of my dreams. After the ceremony Dan and I had a very special moment with our immediate families. We had both sides of the family come off to the side right after the ceremony for family pictures. We got everyone together for photos and announced to them that we were pregnant. That was an incredibly special moment that I am so happy we captured on photo and video, thanks to Lauren and her awesome team.
8. Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?
You can stress and plan and plan and plan, but everything won't go exactly as planned the day of. And that's okay. Whatever ends up not going as planned is probably only noticed by you and no one else. Enjoy the day because it's over so fast!
