1. Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
Our traditional church wedding was a celebration of our love of family and as well as our history. We both grew up 10min away from each other our whole lives but did not meet till after college (on a dating app - Bumble - in our case). Both of us had our sacraments of baptism, communion and confirmation at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. When you put it all together and lay it out, it forms a perfect road map of near misses - allowing us to meet at the perfect time. That core foundation was a true inspiration for our wedding day. We wanted everything to feel elegant and timeless.
2. Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
We decorated our ceremony and reception with soft white, pink and gold accent colors. We wanted everything to feel light and airy with elegance tied in. Since we met on the dating app - Bumble - Connor and I have become extremely fond of bumble bees. Therefore, there were lots of hints of gold bumble bees hidden throughout our decor and wedding theme. Our hashtag was even #MeanttoBEEaMoriarty
3. What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
My bridal bouquet and florals were very important to me. I chose to include Variegated English ivy as my main greenery - this was in my mothers wedding bouquet. I wanted to pull in that elegance and tradition throughout my florals. I chose light colors with pops of pink - as that is my favorite color.
4. Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
My favorite part of my wedding was the car ride right after the church to the reception venue. We had rented a vintage Princess Rolls Royce and trust me I felt like a true princess in that car. Having that time right after getting married to spend celebrating with my husband was very special.
5. Let's talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
I had an incredible experience finding my wedding dress. I knew immediately that it was "the one" when the consultant brought it into the dressing room. I adored my wedding dress and truly did not want to take it off at the end of the night. I felt like a princess that day and loved how elegant I looked with the long train and beautiful applique throughout. My handsome groom chose a traditional black tie tux for the day.
6. How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
It all started with a swipe. If that’s not the best way to describe the beginning of a modern romance, I don’t know what is. But I’ll balance it out with a classic - it was love at first sight. I know that phrase gets thrown around a lot. You see it in Disney movies and bad romantic comedies, but I’m just as surprised as you to hear that it’s real. Of course, when you sit down with someone you meet on a dating app - Bumble, in our case - you can’t predict what’s to come. But from the moment Connor and I met, we both knew there was something special between us.The proposal - It was a foggy day in December...our own little cinematic moment in Tarrytown, NY. Tarrytown is a special place to us for a lot of reasons. It’s where we had our first Valentine’s Day date, it’s where we’ve had many since and it’s where we first said ‘I love you’ to one another. It only made sense to make it the place where we profess our love once and for all, and commit to it forever. And in the thick fog of a early December day in 2020, we held each other close as I said “yes.”
7. What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
Its hard to pin point one exact huge special moment because there were so many "small" special moments that came throughout the day. Such as the morning walk I took with my sister-in-law right before we started getting ready, the car ride to the church with my Dad, our first dance together, dancing our butts off at the reception and so many more.
8. Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?
Everyone will tell you to enjoy wedding planning but the truth is it is very stressful. My biggest advice is to allow yourself some grace throughout the process - planning a wedding is not easy. Also, make sure you choose a photographer who can be your built in best friend for the day. There is definitely a different kind of relationship between a bride and her photographer - who is constantly around on the wedding day! - that is so important. I am so grateful to have found my perfect match (both photographer and husband :) ).
