I have been married for almost 6 years and I would be lying if I said I didn’t watch my wedding video at least 10 times a year.
One of the best decisions that I made for my own wedding was hiring a wedding videographer. I went back and forth with the decision for many months because I just wasn’t sure if it was worth the investment. I had a great wedding photographer lined up to capture my day so I felt like I was set. But the more I started to think about it, the more I realized that you can’t hear voices in photos! There’s something so charming and romantic about watching a mini movie of your special day that photos just can’t compare to.
One reason I encourage my clients to hire a wedding videographer is for the memories. I know it sounds kind of obvious but it’s so true. This is such a cliché line but seriously, believe me when I tell you your wedding day will fly by super quickly. Whenever I watch my wedding video, I am reminded of that day - the emotions - and most importantly the love that I have for my husband. After all, we live in a digital time, which means your wedding video will be viewed for generations and generations. How cool is that?!
A second reason I think hiring a wedding videographer is worth it, is something that I have realized as I slowly get farther and farther away from my wedding day. Life changes - friends come into your life, your siblings and cousins gain spouses and people come into your life that you frankly didn’t know when your wedding happened. So for me personally, I love to show those new people entering my life my wedding video and it makes them feel special, like they were there.
My third and final reason why I feel having a wedding videographer is so important is to film your vows and your speeches. The words that are spoken between you and your future spouse, and also the beautiful speeches that are said at your reception, are words that you’re going to want to remember forever. Don’t get me wrong, reading your vows on paper is still special, but listening to the emotions in your future spouse’s voice or your best friend/maid of honor is so special. It makes me tear up almost every time that I listen to it. These events only happen once to most people and it’s so special to listen/watch back these emotional words!
