Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A: Even though my wedding wasn't what I originally planned, it was a dream! I was able to get married at a local lake which is so sentimental to my husband and I because it is where we live! I wanted my wedding to be earthy tones and neutral, and having the outdoor scenery of the lake was the perfect way to compliment my vision!
Q: Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A: The ceremony took place down at the lake with a very small amount of people. There was an arch that my father built, and flowers placed onto that arch by my wonderful florist who was my best friends mom. The reception was in my backyard where we had the entire backyard lit up using string lights. I built a bar with my dad as well which was a huge hit.
Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A: The flowers I used for my wedding were perfect. I wanted my flowers to have a lot of greenery and simple flowers. The centerpieces for the table was a long garland with tealight candles on rustic farmhouse tables.
Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A: The wedding was spent with just my closest family due to the restrictions in place at the time. I made a playlist for music which was played on a speaker which kept things fun! I also had a Polaroid camera for guests to take pictures with photo props to glue into a book where they signed.
Q: Let's talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A: I went with a very simple look. My dress had spaghetti straps and lacing with very light peach flowers throughout. The train wasn't very long, but there was a small one. My husband wanted to wear gray so he wore a gray tux along with the groomsmen but wore a bowtie to stand out.
Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A: My husband and I met at work actually! I worked at the customer service desk of a food store when I was 16 and he manages the liquor store right door. We have been together for 5 years! We got engaged August 25, 2019 down the shore on the beach.
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A: There were a few special moments about my day. Knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with a man who I adore was an absolute dream. Spending the day with him celebrating our love was the most special moment. I would say dancing with my father was the second best. It was a moment I will cherish forever.
Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?
A: Be flexible in planning! Know what you want, but also know that things out of your control happen and you have to be able to go with the flow or else it will ruin your big day.
